This is our first pitch, explaining our ideas for the music video. As a group, we have all shared our ideas to create one whole narrative. We showed this pitch to our class explaining our ideas, and received feedback from the class, helping us with our ideas and allowing us to think about problems that we may face. It was good to see what everyone had to say, and allowed us to think and discuss our ideas to try and make them better.

Narrative idea for video.
B.o.B- Lovelier than you.
In our group, Stephanie & I decided to pick this song "Lovelier than you" by B.o.B. The song is about someone who is in love with a girl; always on this mind and constantly thinking about their future together. I feel that a lot of people could relate to this song; as it talks about feelings they have for a loved one.He wants to express his love for the his girlfriend, and wants everyone to know about it. I think it's a good song to use, because it's upbeat, it has a reasonable time and the lyrics have given both of us loads of ideas.
First idea:
A guy (the male character in our music video) is in love with a woman. He almost follows her, watches her. He can't tell her how he feels but instead he just imagines himself with her. At the beginning of the song, you hear the acoustic guitar. I can imagine at great shot of the male character in his bedroom playing his guitar in his room at an angle where you can't see the character. As the beat comes in, the camera begins to move up allowing the audience to see the character singing. He'll start to lip-sync as B.O.B starts to sing. Stephanie and I discussed scenes where he could look out his window and he'll see the girl of his dreams walking along the road. It's quite sad, but I find that his will be a fun and entertaining video. About a man who can't tell a girl about his feelings, but only imagines himself with her. Also we discussed, showing the audience them together as a couple at the chorus. Showing the audience that's it's all a delusion & only what he wants to happen. At the choruses, the couple could be "represented as a couple" and go to different places. Go on dates, kiss, share love letters..exactly how he wants it to be. But once the chorus is done, it goes back to reality and reveals that it's only in his head, and at the end they could walk right passed each other.
Connection lyrics:
"Maybe one day, we will go hand in hand" - They could walk down the road hand in hand to show they are in a relationship.
"We can float off to space"- I imagined this scene; the male character could give the female actor a piggy back.
"We go together like the tub and the shower head above"- They could be drinking out the same drink with straws to show that they are connected and are one. I think it's quite cute!
Locations: Hollow Ponds- they could be scenes where they are feeding the ducks, and sitting with the trees, around them.
River thames and Tower Bridge: Stephanie and myself thought that it wouldn't take a while to get this video done. So it would be easier to just spend a whole day out (9am- 6pm) so we could go different places and get all the shots done.
More ideas!
I still think that the video should begin with the male character at the beginning. We have discussed that he'll be getting ready to leave at the beginning of the video. He'll look at the time, and leave his house to meet his girlfriend at the train station. In previous media lessons, we both thought that there should be a train scene inspired by the "match.com"advert.
Stephanie and I, decided to show the characters as a couple throughout the video. They'll go to different place are deeply in love. Into three quarters towards the end, we will rewind the video, (make it go backwards) to show their relationship wasn't real at all and that it was only false hope.
He'll start to lip-sync as he stands against the wall with his guitar. (was an idea, maybe he should carry his guitar? Undecided). The camera will be on the side, only revealing one side of his face. He'll be the main focus until he turns to find his girlfriend walking down the stairs to meet him. We believe it wouldn't take us long to do this music video, we're trying to keep it quite simple so the video doesn't get confused and complicated. We want the couple to travel, to many different places. It'd have different clips of videos of them together, going out for a coffee, in the park relaxing with each other.
A little bit more than half way through the video, we're going to rewind the video slowly. Erasing all their memories and their relationship. I was inspired by R-Kelly's song "If I could turn the hands of time". He inspired me to rewind the video, it's a clever special effect and makes the video much more interesting. It's going to rewind all the way, to the beginning as he stands in the station however this time his "girlfriend" will walk right past him. To show that what happened previously in the video was only a delusion and only what the male character wants to happen. It's quite a sad story, but I think it's going to be really successful and I'm very excited to make it! :)
